IGP launch Safer School Protection Squad

The Ogun State Police Command has concluded plans to launch the Safer School Protection Squad.

According to available information, it will take place at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the state capital.

The two-day event will be held on November 26 and 27, 20224.

A statement by the spokesperson of the Command, Omolola Odutola, said: “Ogun State Police Command will be among the commands that will benefit from the visionary initiative of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on his approach to fortify Schools across the country.”

Odutola, a Superintendent of Police, said the Safer School Protection Squad will be launched at the two-day event, themed: Capacity building for security agencies and other stakeholders.”

The programme is geared towards enlightening stakeholders about the safety of schools and measures the Nigeria Police Force has undertaken to ensure that every school in Ogun State is adequately fortified with the right mechanism such as rapid deployment, vehicular patrol, schools orientation on safer security of students, principals and partners of all schools in Ogun State.

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun; IGP Egbetokun; Commissioner, Ogun State Police Command, CP Alamutu Abiodun; and CP Safer Protection Squad will be present at the event.

Odutola said sister security agencies, government agencies, traditional rulers and private sector partners will also be in attendance.

She said members of the public can follow the programme across the official police  social media channels to connect to the programme live from 10am on both November 26 and 27, 2024.

She added: “Invited guests will be given the opportunity to discuss, share information and chart new measures on the safest way to better manage the security of our children.”
