Driver Dies, Three Injured In Crash At Oju-Ore Ota

A road accident at Oju-Ore, along Idiroko Road in the Ota area of Ogun State, has claimed the life of a driver, identified as Bello Lukman, and left at least three passengers injured.

VOA NEWS  learned on Wednesday from the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, that the accident occurred around 8:45 pm on Monday while the driver was attempting to properly park the vehicle.

The pedestrians struck by the vehicle include 26-year-old Ojo Isaac, Ladan Musa Moses, and Tunde Adio.

The Honda shuttle car, with the number plate TTD 537 AE, driven by Lukman, was parked at the roadside when he attempted to reposition it. During this process, he lost control of the steering and hit the pedestrians standing nearby.

As a result, the pedestrians sustained injuries and were promptly taken to the State Hospital in Ota for urgent medical treatment.

Odutola said, “Tragically, Ojo Isaac passed away while receiving treatment. His death was confirmed by the attending doctor, and his body was later transferred to the mortuary at General Hospital, Ifo, for an autopsy.

“The accident scene has been inspected, a rough sketch map created, photographs taken, and the vehicle recovered for VIO inspection. Police investigations are still ongoing.”
