Residents and Community Head in Osuke, Ota have raised alarm over incessant unrest leading to the alleged killing of one Obasanjo Saheed Jinadu by suspected land grabbers attached to Akogun Elijah on 70 acres of land causing dispute between land owners and Faith Terbanacle Church, a.k.a Winners Chapel, Ota.
According to a source who confided in VOA News Correspondent on the condition of anonymity, he disclosed that Akogun Elijah and one Femi Scorpion are agents employed by Winners Chapel to secure an expanse of land measuring about 70 acres of land which the community claim not to belong to the former and the matter has since been taken to the law enforcement agencies for settlements.
“Trouble broke out on Wednesday when some hoodlums attached to Akogun Elijah and Femi Scorpion invaded Osuke community, destroying properties and shooting sporadically, an event which made residents to scamper for safety. Then, aftermath of their wrath, we discovered that one of the guys in the community, Obasanjo Saheed Jinadu has been shot and killed in the imbroglio while they also burnt some Motorcycles”.
Our Source, who nursed fear of a continuous harrassment and incessant killing of this nature, called on the state Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun to ensure his government is not marred by such needless land grabbing killings of this nature while also charging law enforcement agencies to ensure perpetrators are brought to book.
In a one minute video obtained by VOA News Correspondent, a lifeless body was seen and identified by our source as Obasanjo Saheed while men of Nigerian Police Force were seen on site, restoring peace and orderliness back to the area.
When VOA News Correspondent contacted Akogun Elijah over the incidence, he denied having any involvement in the ensued melee, adding that anyone who has proof that he is involved in the unrest should approach law enforcement agencies with such.
He said that though, he is a member of land committee in Winners Chapel as he is also a member of the church, he does not have a single plot of land in Osuke and that such matter would not have interested him.
“I am aware that there is a disagreement over the land belonging to Winners in the area but an injunction has been filed in the High Court of Ogun State, Ota for all the parties to steer clear of the land in dispute pending all matters are resolved, so why would anyone think that I would be involved in such matter that would further cause unrest after signing an undertaking to maintain peace and order”. He asked.
Meanwhile, VOA News report that the land tussle between land owners and Winners Chapel church in Feru and Osuke areas of Ado-Odo/Ota local government has degenerated into chaos, exposing innocent citizens to vulnerable attacks on their lives and properties.
