Honourable Segun Ojolowo-Ojuko, a key stakeholder of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Ogun State, has announced his candidacy for the chairmanship election in 2024 under the APC banner. His primary objective is to elevate the local government into one of the leading councils in the nation through significant advancements in human and infrastructural development.
In a statement released on Friday, Ojolowo-Ojuko outlined a strategic blueprint designed to guide a comprehensive development agenda for the local government. This plan aims to bridge historical gaps in both human and infrastructure development that have affected the council.

His decision to run for chairmanship stems from a genuine desire to serve the community selflessly and witness the Council’s evolution into a model modern city.
Moreover, he highlighted that his vision aligns with the development initiatives introduced by Governor Abiodun, which have reached various parts of the state. He asserted that the governor’s vision for grassroots development would be further enhanced through multiple projects.
As part of his transformative agenda, Ojolowo-Ojuko pledged that critical link roads across all 16 wards would receive focused attention, with plans for both new constructions and rehabilitation. He stated that “Improving roads and other essential infrastructure will undoubtedly boost commercial activities and transportation, ultimately paving the way for increased revenue generation.”

Roadmap for Developmental Transformation Agenda for Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government
Vision Statement:
Our goal is to reposition Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government to be a leader in Ogun State and Nigeria. I, Segun Ojolowo, with a progressive vision, present this strategic blueprint to guide our comprehensive developmental agenda. This plan addresses the gaps in human and infrastructural development that have historically impacted our local government.
Strategic Objectives and Initiatives:
- Infrastructure Development:
- Link Roads: Our top priority is the rehabilitation and construction of major link roads across all 16 wards of Ado-Odo/Ota. Upgrading these roads will stimulate economic activities, enhance connectivity, and increase Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
- Healthcare Services:
- Health Centers: We will establish functional health centers in each of the 16 wards to improve access to primary healthcare. This initiative aims to address the population density challenges and provide essential medical services to all residents.
- Environmental Management:
- Waste Management: The creation of the Ado-Odo/Ota Waste Management Authority (AOWMA) will oversee the consistent clearing and maintenance of our environment. This authority will tackle waste management challenges and ensure a cleaner, healthier local government.
- Education:
- Educational Improvement: We are committed to enhancing our public schools to meet and exceed private sector standards. Our goal is to make education a transformative force, equipping our youth with the skills and knowledge to drive positive change.
- Security:
- Enhanced Safety: We will collaborate with existing security agencies and establish new police posts in emerging communities. Strengthening security through partnerships with the Nigeria Police Force, The Nigeria Navy, Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other local vigilante groups will ensure a safer environment for all.
- Job Creation and Youth Empowerment:
- Vocational Training: We will create vocational centers (Ado-Odo/Ota Vocational Training Center) in key locations to provide training and soft loans for graduates. This initiative will focus on skill development and entrepreneurship to empower our youth and boost local employment.
- Social Amenities:
- Recreation and Sports: We plan to revive our sports council and recreational centers, which historically were hubs of entertainment and talent discovery. By fostering a conducive environment for sports and recreation, we will nurture and showcase local talent.
- Agriculture:
- Support for Farmers: We will focus on revitalizing farm settlements and facilitating access to agricultural grants. Our efforts will also support investors in cash crops and animal husbandry, including improvements to veterinary health services.
- Transportation:
- Transport Infrastructure: Our transportation strategy is aligned with our road development plans. Improved road networks will facilitate easier transportation of goods and services, thereby attracting investment and enhancing local transport systems.
- Housing:
- Investment in Housing: Leveraging my experience and connections in the housing sector, we will create a favorable environment for housing investors. This initiative aims to address housing needs and stimulate growth in the housing sector.
- Finance:
- Revenue Generation: Increasing IGR is central to our plan. We will open up new commercial opportunities through infrastructure development and address any revenue leakages. Our commitment to transparency and accountability will ensure effective financial management.
- Trade & Commerce:
- Economic Development: We will develop a thorough understanding of trade and commerce dynamics to drive economic growth. Our focus will be on synergizing tools and strategies to enhance trade and commerce within and beyond our local government.
