The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), has welcomed the recent judgment by the Ogun State High Court ruling which upholds its ability to conduct the forth coming local government elections.
The ruling, delivered by Hon. Justice T. A. Okunsokan in suit number AB/577/2024, Action Alliance & 15 Others v. OGSIEC & Others, affirmed OGSIEC’s authority to conduct the local government elections scheduled for November 16, 2024, validating its full compliance with constitutional and electoral guidelines.
Speaking with newsmen, the spokesperson of OGSIEC, Aare Dele Bankole, described the judgement as ‘marking a significant milestone in OGSIEC’s ongoing commitment to an equitable electoral process in Ogun State.
“This judgment reinforces our mandate to ensure free, fair, transparent, and credible elections. The judgement marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to an equitable electoral process in Ogun State”.
He added that OGSIEC is dedicated to creating a level playing ground for all political parties.
“At OGSIEC, we are dedicated to creating a level playing field for all political parties, and this ruling not only supports our procedures but also emphasizes our responsibility to uphold the election timetable.
As we proceed toward the election date, we encourage all political parties, candidates, and citizens to prepare for a peaceful and orderly polling process”.
OGSIEC however, enjoins all registered voters to come out en masse on November 16 to cast their votes and make their voices heard while it further reiterated its openness to constructive dialogue and collaboration with all stakeholders and steadfastly adhering to the legal framework guiding our operations.
