Comrade Oluwatoyin Kamal Kelani, widely known as K’Square, has urged Muslims in Nigeria and Ogun State especially to see this year’s Eid-il-Kabir as a time to make charitable sacrifices.
K’square, who is the State Secretary of Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) Ogun state chapter, said this while addressing newsmen during a Sallah message to Muslims in Nigeria and Ogun state in particular.
He said that Ileya, as it is common practice for Muslims is to be celebrated according to the commandment of Allah and the tenets of Islam. He emphasized that it do not only signify the sanctity or obedience to Almighty Allah, but also an avenue to be charitable to friends, family and people in need.
“Ileya do not only signify the sanctity of obedience to the creator, but also represents an avenue for us to be charitable to our friends, family and people in need.
“As a manifestation of charitable practice, Muslims should make sure that no impoverished member is denied the opportunity to partake in the sacrificial feast during Eid-el-Kabir.
“As it is common practice in Saudi Arabia, meat from slaughtered rams of each pilgrim is packaged and conveyed to the needy across borders of the world. Muslims should emulate this in a show of love and charity to our family, friends and the needies, most importantly”.
