On ‘Order From Above’, Ado-Odo/Ota LG Councilors Make Dramatic U-Turn, Change Portfolio Of Dorykay, Other Yayi Loyalists’ Committee

Politics of bickery going into 2027 may have soon begun at the Ado-Odo/Ota local government’s legislative chamber as portfolios of Councilor representing Ota ward 1, Honorable Kazeem, popular as Dorykay and other Yayi loyalist’s have been changed just one week after the committee’s appointments were made.

Recall that on Tuesday, during the first sitting of the legislative house in 2025, several committee appointments were made which was unanimously passed by the majority of councillors present, and just as speculated by some quarters, the unrancorous appointment made by the councilors would not go down well with some leaders in the local government under the guise that some councilors are not under their umbrella.

VOA News Correspondent gathered that in the initial Committee that was set up on Tuesday, Hon. Aina Kazeem was appointed as Chairman, House Committee on Works and Housing, but was later removed from the committee and given a position in Disciplinary committee, a move that led to three other councillors withdrawing from the nominations.

An inside source, who craved anonymity, told VOA News Correspondent that the ‘house committee was unanimously done without fear or favour last week but to our surprise, they just brought a list today with different names on different comittee, citing an excuse that it is an ‘order from above’ and that they can’t do anything about it’.

Our source, expresses fear that such move will divide the councillors who have been handling their legislative duties in such a peaceful manner without any interference, while he advised that councillors should be left to discharge their duties so that those they represent will soon start enjoying the dividends of democracy.

Saying further, he said, “they alleged that we are Yayi loyalists and we don’t deserve juicy appointments, but the man in question has been doing wonders in the local government and by getting better appointments will make us know the pains and anguishes of our people and as such, we can escalate same”.

Meanwhile, all efforts to get the house leader, Hon. Gbadamosi Mutairu speak on the matter proved abortive as calls made to his personal line did not pull through as at the time of filing this report.
