As the people of Ota continue to count their losses aftermath the heavy rain that fell a couple of weeks ago, damaging properties; thereby rendering some people homeless, destroying businesses, indigenes of Ota that are residents in Houston, Texas under the aegis of Ota Indigenous Foundation, Houston, Texas, have extended an olive hand to the Oba Moshood Alani Oyede Primary School situated at Ota.
VOA News gathered that the effort of Ota Indigenous Foundation to get the students back to their classrooms was as a result of the ‘save our soul’ message which Olota of Ota, HRM Prof. Adeyemi Obalanlege sent to members of the foundation after carrying out on spot assessment on the school in company of Aro of Ota, High Chief Ezekiel Bamishaye when he got wind that students no longer have classrooms to study because of the havoc which the heavy rainstorm left on their school.
A source close to the palace, who spoke with our Correspondent said that, “His Majesty was informed on how the rainstorm has sacked pupils from classrooms after the roof of three (3) classrooms was badly affected by the ugly incidence. In his usual way, Kabiyesi visited the school in company of Aro of Ota, High Chief Ezekiel Bamisaiye Fadipe and the Education Secretary, Ado-Odo/Ota, Alhaja Rukayat Badmus for on the spot assessment.
In rescuing the situation, His Majesty contacted Ota Awori Indigenous Foundation (Houston, Texas) led by Alhaja Falilat Ajoke Onola for possible urgent intervention”.
Our Correspondent learnt that the foundation which comprises of the likes of Alhaja Ajoke, Lai Taiwo, Ajani Ojo (Ajasco), High Chief Quadri Obawole (Baada of Ota), and other members of the foundation, immediately swung into action as soon as they got wind of the incidence.
VOA News also gathered that the Elegushi of Egushi Ota, HRH Oba Maroof Alagbe, who is currently in Texas, played very prominent role in ensuring the speedy renovation of the affected classrooms.
As gathered, ‘renovation work is ongoing under the supervision of High Chief Fadipe (Aro of Ota) and Alhaji (Prince) Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusesi ( Personal Assistant to Olota and the Omotobase of Ota) and ‘Pupils are expected back in their respective classrooms by Thursday, 9th May 2024’.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Dada, who spoke with VOA News Correspondent, could not hide his feelings as he heaped praises on members of the foundation.
He specifically thanked the Olota of Ota for the fatherly role which he always play on matters concerning the town.
Meanwhile, the footprint which the heavy storm left on the heart of Ota people is such that will linger on for a while as residents are struggling to get their residences and businesses back on track.
