The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, Rukayyah Amadu, for allegedly killing her co-wife, Asiyah Amadu, 30, by pouring hot water on her.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Shi’isu Adam, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, March 13, 2025 in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital,
According to the PPRO, the incident occurred on February 24, 2025, at Buju village, Dutse LG, following a misunderstanding between the two women.
“Asiyah Amadu sustained severe burns and was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead on March 4, 2025, at about 0900hrs,” the statement read.
The police announced that Rukayyah Amadu had been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department Dutse for a discreet investigation.
“During interrogation, Rukayyah confessed to the crime. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
