Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries in Ogun State has hailed Governor Dapo Abiodun for making life more meaningful for pensioners.
The governor also received a prestigious award at the 5th Annual General Meeting and 25th anniversary of the association.
Chairman of the association, Niyi Abiola, said retirees in Ogun State have never had it so good.
He praised Governor Abiodun for prioritising their welfare.
Abiola said the award was in recognition of the governor’s commitment to the welfare of retired public servants and elder statesmen.
According to him, under Governor Abiodun’s leadership, retirees have benefited from prompt monthly pension payments, offsetting of arrears owed by previous administrations, and the release of N5billion recently for the payment of gratuity, thereby reducing the backlog.
He said the state government had assisted the association in building its secretariat, while palliative measures had been implemented to cushion the impact of the current inflation on members.
He praised the governor’s efforts and is optimistic that his administration will continue addressing retirees’ concerns.
Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, who accepted the award on behalf of Governor Abiodun, encouraged the association to continue showing love and support for the governor.
