An 80-year-old trader, Ladan Bature, was fatally stabbed on Monday during an argument at the Kara Cattle Market along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Isheri Olofin.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed to the Newsmen that a woman, Haiye Aginni, suspected to be responsible for the attack, had been arrested.

This incident occurred a day after a teenager, Olamide Phillips, allegedly stabbed his friend, Moses Odeh, to death during a fight on Obalende Street in the Isara area of the state.

Speaking to our correspondent on Wednesday, the spokesperson for the command, Omolola Odutola, revealed that the suspect allegedly stabbed the 80-year-old man with a knife in front of the Kara Market mosque.

Despite efforts by residents and traders to rush him to the hospital, Odutola stated that Bature was confirmed dead by a doctor.

She disclosed, “Following the report to the Ojodu Abiodun Police Division, detectives swiftly took action and arrested the suspect.

“Bature’s body has been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue in Sagamu for preservation and autopsy.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.”
